838 Illuminati fate: Why it works?

*Spoiler Ahead*

The 838 Illuminati did their purpose in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a cannon fodder for a savage Wanda Maximoff, or should I say the Scarlet Witch.

From the trailer teasing the cameo of Patrick Stewart reprising his role of Professor x. A version of Professor X that 90’s kids are familiar with - the yellow hovering futuristic chair with his green formal tux. Also, in the teasers, are the live action version of Captain Carter, that ended up being played by none other, Hayley Atwell. The supposed “Superior Iron Man” ended up being Captain Marvel version where Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch) had the powers.

In the movie showed the rest of the 838 Illuminati which comprised of Baron Mordo, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, the new Sorcerer Supreme after 838 Doctor Strange was killed by the Illuminati. Black Bolt the protector of the Terrigen Mist, played by Anson Mount, who played Black Bolt in the short-lived show ABC show Inhumans. And Reed Richard, considered 838’s “Smartest Man Alive”, played by the fan-favorite John Krazinski, with the classic Mr Fantastic attire in the comic books.

With the exception of Baron Mordo, the rest of the 838 Illuminati was killed one-by-one, Horror-style, by the 838 version of Wanda controlled by the 616 Scarlet Witch. Just like your typical Horror characters, when 616 Doctor Strange told them of the danger and run, they run towards the danger, and got a Horror-esque death. This sequence and mini arc just served its purpose of how menacing and powerful Scarlet Witch is like a Horror villain.

So now why their fate works?

This would work for the introduction of these character to the 616 Universe and Marvel Studios could still keep the actors that portrayed them. Based on the recent movie of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the Disney+ series Loki, both were involved in hinting the multiverse, they showed variants of Peter Parker and Loki.

What if the 838 Universe is near similar mirror of 616 with just a little bit of tweak of what happened to different characters. Universe 616 had Peggy Carter and Maria Rambeau, played by the same actor that played the 838 counterparts, but was not Captain America and Captain Marvel as Steve Rogers and Carol Danvers got the name and powers. Professor X, Reed Richards, and Black Bolt characters have not been introduced in the 616 Universe. Marvel Studios still could use the character as played by the actors. Or could do a variant of those 3 with a different actor like Peter Parker(s), having Tobey McGuire, Andrew Garfield, and 616 own Tom Holland. Same with Loki, having a female version, Sylvie, kid Loki, gator Loki, and old Loki. Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, John Krazinski’s Reed Richards, and Anson Mount’s Black Bolt is just dead in the 838 Universe, why can’t they just have them popped out on the 616 Universe.

May it be well thought off carefully, or just somehow worked out, Marvel Studios have nothing to worry about bringing the same actors, or not, to reprise the role of a dead character. Might be a cheesy way of bringing back dead characters by extracting them from other universe, which hopefully they don’t do, but introducing it to the MCU main timeline aka Universe 616 the characters that died in another universe, would not be as bad. We barely know them, well except for Professor X, in a live action movie format, let them have their second chance. They are gone too soon.

Why didn’t they show Iron Man, who probably in that so-called 7th seat, in the 838 Illuminati? Maybe because Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man is that universe’s Iron Man. And if it’s another fan favorite, Tom Cruise, as that universe Superior Iron Man, won’t even have a problem with. A variant Iron Man.

If there is an Iron Man, who is their Spider-Man? Sony isn’t going to sell the rights back to Marvel Studios soon. For me I think 838 Spider-Man is Andrew Garfield and when he was transported back to his universe it was into the future where the 838 Universe current timeline is. He was the only one knowledgeable of the multiverse theories and also do not know the Avengers and have not fought an alien. Perfect for Amazing Spider-Man 3.

But again, it’s up to Sony.
